Ashford Vision go UK-wide with Satellite Broadband

Ashford Vision have only been in the satellite broadband industry for 2 years, but in that time have become a major reseller / installer of SES and Tooway broadband in Kent.
I have changed the way that I work as a reseller which will now allow me to offer satellite broadband solutions throughout the United Kingdom.

For customers within Ashford Vision's install area of Kent, there is no change in the way that things work.
It starts with an online survey that is conducted at our end, all the way through to the installation and activation of the chosen supplier's hardware and optional wireless router.

Customers that reside or do business outside of our installation areas will still receive a free online survey and the sale & dispatch of the hardware will be arranged also.
As for installation, obviously I wouldn't take a drive to Scotland or Wales to install satellite broadband hardware into 1 person's property, that just wouldn't be financially viable. But we can arrange for an approved installer to install and activate, who is closer to that customer than we are.

If you know someone in a rural area who is struggling with a substandard internet connection, please let them know that we exist. They will thank you for it, maybe their neighbours will thank you too. Then all of a sudden, you are a hero!

Don't worry people, Christmas 2014 is not cancelled!

The latest in my line of  rural business satellite broadband installs took me to Green Team GB Ltd.
Green Team is the sales brand for Green Team Group - one of the leading companies in Europe in the production and sales of Christmas tree seedlings, Christmas trees, decorations and foliage.
They supply garden centers and other outlets nationwide, with B&Q being their biggest UK customer.

With it being a very busy time of year for them, having a sub-standard internet connection of 0.3Mbps - 0.5Mbps speeds was giving them a headache, so they looked for a solution.
I received a call from John. We got the ball rolling on the equipment order, and set the installation date.

Now they have broadband, there shouldn't be any problem finding your family Christmas tree this year, as the orders are flying in for them.

All thanks to SES Broadband.

Civil Rail Solutions move to a new premise without any data cabling.

I have just come out of the other side of a large business install job.

Civil Rail Solutions (CRS) were finding that the size their premises at Barrow Hill had become a little restricting for them, and it had indeed become time to up-size.
They had found a property that was ideal for their needs that is located on Henwood Industrial Estate It had ample office space, and more room for parking. The only problem was that it had never had any data/voice cabling installed... EVER!

The guys at CRS had BT booked to shift their VOIP phone system and to install broadband so they were ready for business, but upon the arrival of the BT Openreach engineers, it became apparent that CRS were only booked in for the phone system installation and there was no broadband in sight, and they were already occupying the premises.

Ashford Vision carry out installations for a local company called Impossible Internet, which is the brain child of N79's Robin Jobber. As soon as we heard of CRS's predicament with their business comms, we installed a broadband connection there and then for them.

The next thing was to install a brand new solid copper data network over the 2 floored property consisting of over 40 RJ45 points and nearly 1200 mtrs of Cat5e cabling that CRS could run their VOIP and data over.

After 1 week of installing and running tests, it was time to leave as the job was done. Hope you settle in quickly Civil Rail Solutions.

4G / LTE interference at 800 MHz

Sometimes if you are having TV reception problems, it may be down to 4G / LTE interference.

"4G as in mobile data?" I hear you ask. Well you are right.

The old analogue channels 1-4 were terminated (digital switchover) to allow 4G / LTE to expand throughout the UK. Whilst 4G / LTE is great for your mobile devices, those frequencies are very close to those that carry our Freeview channels. In some cases if there is a 4G / LTE mast between your TV aerial and the transmitter that you receive your channels from, it can result in a blocking picture and screeching/clicking sound.

Even though 4G / LTE has been around for a while, there are masts popping up every week which could then be the start of your TV viewing nightmare.
Please remember that 4G / LTE can only interfere with TV channels that you receive through a TV aerial (DVB-T & DVB-T2), and not a satellite dish (DVB-S & DVB-S2).

Here is a picture of 4G / LTE interference present at 800mhz:

And here is one with 4G / LTE being kept away from 800mhz and below:

With the 4G / LTE interference under control, normal TV viewing can once again be possible.

Ashford Vision install TV aerials and distribution units that shield your digital TV frequencies from interference. This means that you can be safe in the knowledge that from the start, you won't be haunted by 4G / LTE whilst trying to watch Eastenders!

Darling Buds Of May

Had an interesting job this week installing SES Satellite Broadband at the Larkin house in Bethersden, Kent.
Ma' and Pop Larkin are very happy with their new broadband internet connection, they say that it is "Perfick!"

Well, they don't actually live there of course, but there is a family that do.

The farm that was used as a backdrop for the Darling Buds of May is host to an annual classic car show, and later this year people will be able to book a holiday in the converted oast.

Check out: www.darlingbudsfarm.co.uk for more details.

As the property is grade 2 listed, the dish for the Satellite Broadband connection went on a pole and the cable was buried in a flexible conduit.

Time for a check-in.

Hello, I am still here!

It has been a very busy period since my last blog, with the winds and what would have been a very steady workload anyway.

I have had the usual TV aerial, satellite dish, telephone and satellite broadband work coupled with wind damages including a call-out to an aerial that had fallen due to the top half of a chimney collapsing! I removed the bricks that were poised ready for sliding down the tiles and hitting a conservatory roof. Then it was made water tight ready for re-building, (I didn't do that bit).

Another call-out was for a Tooway satellite broadband dish that was ripped out of a brick wall. The cause was the wind, but it didn't help that it wasn't installed correctly in the first place. It had loose elevation and azimuth securing bolts and the main wall securing bolts were drilled into to the mortar, which is the weakest point on a wall for mounting things.

Hopefully we have seen the end of the winds for a while, and business can return to normal. I am also hoping that I will have a little more time to update my blog every month. So until next time, Bye-bye.
